Our Love Story
A beautiful North Carolina Spring day, it was Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend in 2021. Having just gotten back from a hike with his brother at Crowders Mountain, Drew headed to the grill area of his apartment complex to ensure the TVs got the NBA playoff games scheduled for later in the day. Concurrently, Micayla was holding a birthday party for a friend in her apartment, and had just gathered the crew to go down to the grill for an afternoon barbecue. After fiddling with the remote for what seemed like forever, Drew looked up to see Micayla and her friends walking out the door towards the grill.
However, things wouldn't be so easy. Instead of the entire group setting up at the grill, Micayla and some her friends walked to the other side of the courtyard to play corn hole. Drew stood at the grill area talking to Micayla's friends for over an hour, waiting to finally have a chance to catch Micayla's attention to talk to her.

After winning multiple games of corn hole, Micayla finally came over to the grill area. Drew asked if she knew how to work the TVs, and after a brief tech support session, Drew asked for (and received!!) Micayla's phone number. It was time to begin planning what would be the final first date of our lives.
​
From conclusion of our first date at Indaco, we became inseparable. We spent almost every day together, walking Bailey on the Rail Trail, making pancakes for the French Open finals, tubing on the Catawba River, and drinking the best espresso martinis that Charlotte had to offer.
​
In summer of 2022, we moved in together to an apartment in Uptown Charlotte, where we continued the same activities and more. While we love visiting the Uptown Charlotte Farmers Market, throwing darts at The Public House, playing tennis at Frazier Park, and drinking oat milk lattes at Waterbean Coffee, our favorite place to visit is Marshall Park, a quaint pocket park with a beautiful fountain and gorgeous city view in Charlotte's Second Ward. It was there that Drew proposed to Micayla on July 1, 2023, one day after celebrating two years together.

Throughout the entirety of our lives, Hilton Head Island has held a special place in our hearts. Starting as a destination for family vacations in both the Vandemore and Stanley households, Hilton Head Island has become a place we hold near to our hearts, spending our long weekends throughout the year mini golfing, running with Bailey on the beach, riding bikes, and playing tennis and golf in Sea Pines. We couldn't be more excited to celebrate the love we share in our favorite place with our favorite people. We look forward to seeing you there!
